2003 Screenwriting Expo Screenplay Competition

The Screenwriting Expo 2 Screenplay Competition received over 1,300 entries. With the addition of genre prizes for Action-Adventure/Thriller, Family/Comedy/Animation and Horror/Sci-fi/Fantasy, we had a lot of thrills, laughing aloud and getting freaked out. It was such a pleasure to read so many fantastic screenplays. Congratulations to the winners and semifinalists listed below. Please contact Jim Mercurio at expocompetition@aol.com for information about the contest or to contact the winners.

Expo 2 Screenplay Competition Winner Optioned!

"The Screenwriting Expo Competition gave me the amazing opportunity to have Mike Medavoy not only read my winning screenplay, but also attach himself as Executive Producer. Since winning the Expo, I have had companies such as Endeavor, Radmin, and ICM request my work. My winning screenplay has been optioned and I have a good chance of being hired to do a rewrite on another project this spring. I know I would not have been able to make these contacts if it were not for the Expo Competition. More than ever, I am inspired to keep telling stories." — 2003 Contest Winner Naida Joanides
